POLYHEDRON AND THEIR TYPES

Hello Everyone, In today's post we will look into what are polyhedron and their types....

POLYHEDRON

A polyhedron is a solid whose surfaces are made up of polygon faces. Thus closed surfaces made up of flat surfaces and straight edges are called POLYHEDRON.
For example Triangular Pyramid.

TYPES OF POLYHEDRON

There are two main types :
  1. CONVEX POLYHEDRON
  2. CONCAVE POLYHEDRON

CONVEX POLYHEDRON

If in any polyhedron, the line segment joining any two points on its surface lie entirely inside or on the polyhedron.

CONCAVE POLYHEDRON

A concave polyhedron is a polyhedron with the property that there exist two points inside it such that the line segment drawn between them contains points not in the polyhedron. In other words a polyhedron is concave when it is not convex.

VISUALISING 3D SOLIDS

Hello Everyone!!
Welcome to my very first post on "VISUALISING 3D SOLIDS"

Let us begin by understanding what do we mean by a 3D SOLID.....

3D SOLIDS

An object that has 3 Dimensions : length, breadth and height and occupies space.
Some basic 3D figures are cube, cuboid, sphere, hemisphere, prism and pyramid.

REPRESENTING 3D IN 2D

Every object can be looked at from different angles to get a different view.
A 3D object can be turned into 2D when looked at from one angle.
the common views are :
  1.            TOP VIEW
  2.            SIDE VIEW
  3.            FRONT VIEW

In my next post we will look at Polyhedron and their Types, we will also check out Euler's formula.
Thank you for reading the post, I hope it was helpful. Please comment and share your views.
